England vs India Women’s ODIs: Marks out of 10 for India Image

India Women scored 201 and 221 in the first two matches – totals England Women chased down without breaking a sweat. However, India kept their nerve and sealed a humdinger in the third match, and New Road. England have now taken a 6-4 lead in the series. Here is how the Indian cricketers did in the ODIs.

Mithali Raj: 9 (M 3, R 206, Ave 103, SR 72)

Mithali scored 72, 59, 75* – the only fifties the Indians managed in the series. Her series aggregate was the highest from either side. The only blemish was perhaps her inability to raise the tempo in the first match.

Jhulan Goswami: 8 (M 3, W 3, Econ 3.80, R 21, SR 91)

Even at 38, Goswami can generate pace, as she demonstrated in all three matches. The ball that got Tammy Beaumont in the second match was special.

Sneh Rana: 7 (M 2, R 29, SR 100, W 2, Econ 4.35)

Rana missed the first match. Once in the side, she bowled tightly in both ODIs, and played a blinder to help India seal the third match.

Shafali Verma: 6 (M 3, R 78, Ave 26, SR 80)

A decent debut for Verma. She got starts in all three matches, and looked dangerous in the second ODI before being stumped for 44.

Smriti Mandhana: 6 (M 3, R 81, Ave 27, SR 72)

Mandhana came to her own in the third match, playing some exquisite strokes en route to her 49. She also held a brilliant catch.

Deepti Sharma: 6 (M 3, R 53, Ave 17.67, SR 64, W 3, Econ 4.70)

Sharma bowled well, especially in the third match, when she triggered a collapse with her triple blow. She got a few runs but could not force the pace.

Shikha Pandey: 4 (M 3, W 2, Econ 4.81)

Pandey did not get many wickets, but did bowl well in bursts. She came close to turning the match around in the second ODI.

Poonam Yadav: 4 (M 2, W 3, Econ 5.30)

Yadav’s numbers suggest she was expensive, but in real, she was trying to buy wickets in the second ODI. She did bowl better than 5.30 an over.

Taniya Bhatia: 3 (M 3, R 9, Ave 4.50, SR 41, C 3, S 1)

Bhatia did a brilliant job behind the stumps in all three matches, but will need to step up with the bat.

Punam Raut: 2 (M 1, R 32, SR 52)

Raut  took 61 balls for her 32 in the first ODI, leading India to lose their way in the middle overs. She was subsequently dropped.

Pooja Vastrakar: 2 (M 1, R 15, SR 88, Econ 5.75)

Vastrakar bowled a wayward spell, but batted more purposefully in the first ODI. She was dropped thereafter.

Harmanpreet Kaur: 1.5 (M 3, R 36, Ave 12, SR 43, W 1, Econ 7.53)

Yet another forgettable series for Kaur, whose woes continue. Gets half a point for her wicket.

Jemimah Rodrigues: 1 (M 2, R 12, Ave 6, SR 33)

Rodrigues replaced Raut but failed in both matches. She has now scored five consecutive single-digit scores.

Ekta Bisht: 1 (M 1, W 1, Econ 6.87)

Bisht got one of India’s two wickets in the first match, but she went for runs and was left out for the restof the series.
