BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, on Tuesday (November 24) has confirmed that the Indian team will play five T20Is against England when they will come to India in a full-flagged tour early next year. Initially, as per the released schedule the English boys were scheduled to play four ODIs, four T20Is and four Test matches during this tour in January-March. However, now it seems BCCI and ECB have mutually agreed to tweak the schedule to accommodate one extra T20I in place of an ODI. The rest of the schedule will remain unchanged.

“England is touring India for four Test matches, three ODIs, and five T20Is, it is easy to have bilaterals as there are just two teams, we have to keep assessing the situation, a lot of people are talking about the second COVID wave, we have to be careful,” said Ganguly during a virtual presser.

Meanwhile, earlier some unconfirmed media reports claimed that during this tour the newly built stadium in Ahmadabad will host a Day-Night Test. However, Sourav Ganguly did not provide any update on that. It is being believed that the BCCI is keeping close eye on the COVID situation in the country and if the situation doesn’t improve then they might host the entire tour in the United Arab Emirates.

Ganguly further mentioned about the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), stating that the board is trying to organise the enire tournament in the country itself.

“We are trying to have the next IPL in India, it’s a tournament for India, I always tell people that they need to be here to see what IPL means to India,” he said.
