Following a strong performance in the opening game of their three-match T20I series against India at Chester-le-Street on Saturday, England leg-spin all-rounder Sarah Glenn has pulled closer to compatriot left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone in the ICC Women's T20I bowling rankings.
Sarah is in a career-best-equaling second place and just 13 rating points behind Sophie. Sarah's career-best haul of 4/23 helped her team win by nine wickets and earned her the Player of the Match award.
She had previously held the second spot on a few occasions as well, most notably last month, before being passed by Katherine Brunt, a seasoned pacer who is resting for the T20I series against India.
After their series' opening game, young England batters Sophia Dunkley and Alice Capsey have also improved significantly. Sophia jumps 13 spots to position 44 with her undefeated 61 off 44 balls, while Alice jumps 12 spots to position 52 with her fast 32 not out off 20 deliveries. Pacer Freya Davis is now ranked 59th among bowlers after moving up nine positions.
Renuka Singh, an Indian seamer, has moved up five positions to take over the 13th spot, while wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh and all-rounder Deepti Sharma have both advanced in the list of women's T20I hitters.
Prior to the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier 2022 beginning Sunday in Abu Dhabi, the players from Ireland and Scotland can also rejoice because they are grouped together in Group A.
Following her 44-run innings in the second T20I between Scotland and Ireland, Saskia Horley of that country has climbed 16 spots to take over the 54th spot among batters, while Cara Murray of Ireland has climbed 14 spots to 94th thanks to her two-wicket haul.
All-rounder Orla Prendergast has advanced in all three lists, while bowlers Leah Paul (up three spots to 68th), Arlene Kelly (up 16 spots to 74th), and skipper Laura Delany (up eight spots to 75th) also made gains.
