Former Australia cricket captain, Aaron Finch, has announced that he will be playing in the upcoming Legends League Cricket (LLC) Masters in Doha, as confirmed by LLC on Wednesday. The LLC Masters tournament is designed to bring back retired international cricketers back into the field, providing a platform for them to play with and against high-quality former international cricketers.
Finch, who recently retired from international cricket on February 6, 2023, expressed his excitement in joining the LLC Masters, describing it as a "fantastic initiative." In a media release, Finch added that he is looking forward to playing with and against some of the best retired international cricketers in the game.
The list of confirmed players for the LLC Masters includes cricketing legends such as Eoin Morgan, Irfan Pathan, Shoaib Akhtar, Chris Gayle, S Sreesanth, Abdul Razzak, and Isuru Udana. Finch's addition to the lineup has been welcomed by Raman Raheja, the co-founder, and CEO of Legends League Cricket, who expressed his immense satisfaction and happiness in having Finch on board to play with them.
Finch, who retired as Australia's leading run-scorer in men's T20Is, has had a remarkable cricketing career. He has scored 3120 runs at an average of 34.28 and a strike-rate of 142.53, with his highest score being 172 off 76 balls. This knock, made against Zimbabwe in 2018, is the highest T20I knock of all-time. Finch has led Australia in a world record 76 men's T20Is and 55 out of the 146 ODIs he played, apart from five Test matches.
Finch retired from ODIs in September last year, but continued to lead the side in T20Is, including in their unsuccessful Men's T20 World Cup defence on home soil last year. With his retirement from international cricket, cricket fans around the world are eagerly awaiting his debut in the LLC Masters tournament, where he will have the opportunity to showcase his talent once again.
