Hanuma Vihari, the skipper of South Zone and recent Duleep Trophy winner, has put an end to the speculations surrounding his Ranji Trophy future. The star Indian batsman will continue to represent Andhra in the upcoming Ranji season, dismissing rumors of a potential move to Madhya Pradesh (MP) to make a comeback with Team India.

The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) officially confirmed Vihari's decision, stating that the 29-year-old will not only remain with the Andhra side but also continue leading the team in the forthcoming season. The NOC (No Objection Certificate) for a move to MP was not granted, and Vihari opted to stay with Andhra.

ACA CEO Siva Reddy expressed satisfaction with Vihari's choice to continue with the Andhra side. He said, "Although he expressed interest in moving, the NOC was not granted. Nevertheless, we are pleased that he has chosen to remain with us."

Vihari's determination to reclaim his spot in the Indian team is evident, especially after his pivotal role in India's historic series win against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21. In the third Test match in Sydney, Vihari displayed exceptional resilience, scoring an unbeaten 23 off 161 balls despite a hamstring injury, helping India secure a remarkable draw.

Since his last appearance for India in the Birmingham Test in July 2022, Vihari has been working diligently to make a strong comeback to the national side.

Regarding Vihari's initial interest in joining Madhya Pradesh, the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) clarified that no final decision has been made. While Vihari showed interest, no concrete arrangements have been established yet.

Interestingly, the Madhya Pradesh side has been making strides in domestic cricket, culminating in a significant triumph over the 41-time Ranji Trophy champions, Mumbai. With this victory, Madhya Pradesh clinched the prestigious trophy for the fifth time, showcasing their potential as a formidable force in Indian cricket.

For now, Hanuma Vihari's focus remains on leading Andhra in the upcoming Ranji Trophy season, aiming to make a compelling case for his return to the national squad. Cricket enthusiasts eagerly await his performances in the domestic circuit as he continues to strive for an India call-up.
