Following his sustained excellence in the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, where the Island nation's campaign was ended in the Super 12 stage, Sri Lanka leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has replaced Afghanistan's Rashid Khan at the top of the ICC Men's T20I Bowling Rankings.
Rashid Khan's reign at the top of the bowling rankings, which began after the dynamic Afghan spinner ousted Australian speed bowler Josh Hazlewood from first place following a great start in the T20 World Cup, was cut short by Hasaranga's ascent.
By the completion of the Super 12 stage, the Sri Lankan spinner has taken 15 wickets throughout his team's World Cup campaign, more than any other player. He has since reclaimed the No. 1 spot that he had in November 2021.
In addition to solidifying his standing as one of the top leg-spinners in the world, he concluded the tournament with excellent stats of 3/13 against Afghanistan and 2/23 against England.
Hasaranga has already taken 86 wickets in 52 games at an outstanding economy of 6.67 and a mere average of 14.48. The 25-year-old is a good hitter as well, but he is now ranked eighth in the all-rounder rankings due to a lack of middle-order appearances during the T20 World Cup.
Hardik Pandya is the only member of Rohit Sharma's team to rank prominently in the top three in the ICC rankings for all-rounders. No Indian bowler appears in the top ten. Sean Williams of Zimbabwe is the lone newcomer in the top-10 all-rounders, but Pakistan's Shadab Khan is on the rise, moving up 10 spots to position 15.
As a result of Moeen Ali's lack of participation, Sikandar Raza and Moeen Ali have switched positions, moving up to sixth and fourth, respectively. Raza played a significant role in Zimbabwe's incredible T20 World Cup performance.
Adil Rashid of England has moved up one spot to eighth place in the top-10 rankings for bowlers, behind fellow countryman Sam Curran.
The sole change in the top tier of that list is that Pathum Nissanka has moved up to number 10 in the most recent batter rankings. Suryakumar Yadav's excellence keeps him in first place with a significant advantage and a rating of 869 points, a lifetime high.
With Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan, New Zealand's Devon Conway, and Pakistan's Babar Azam filling out the top four, Yadav's performance against Zimbabwe has helped him maintain his top spot.
Further down the batter rankings, KL Rahul of India and Finn Allen of New Zealand are both making progress, moving up by six and five points, respectively, and approaching the top 10.
