From September 16 to 22 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, the West Indies team will play three one-day internationals against the New Zealand Women, under the command of newly appointed skipper Hayley Matthews.

Natasha McLean, a seasoned batter and wicketkeeper, rejoins the team. The team was chosen based on its performance in the Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) and recent 6ixty events.

The 17-person provisional team will be reduced to 13 players one day before the series begins.

September 25 through October 6 are the dates for the five T20 Internationals.

West Indies will be aiming to continue their development after making it to the quarterfinals of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup in New Zealand earlier this year for the ODI series. As part of their preparations for the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa in January, the team will thereafter focus on the five T20 International matches.

Mandy Mangru and Kaysia Schultz have also travelled to Antigua to work with the team under the direction of head coach Courtney Walsh.

Ann Browne-John, the chief selector for women's cricket for the CWI, stated that the New Zealand series is crucial for the future of women's cricket since it marks the beginning of a new cycle and serves as practise for the T20 World Cup in South Africa.

The selectors were still able to get a blend of senior and developing players, including Under-19 player Jannillea Glasgow and returning players Natasha McLean and Sheneta Grimmond, despite a few senior players being unavailable at this time, for various reasons, like the seasoned Anisa Mohammed, Kycia Knight, and recently retired Deandra Dottin. Ultimately, we believe that captain Hayley Matthews, in her first series, will have a promising squad of players to start building.

Full squad: Hayley Matthews (C), Aaliyah Alleyne, Shemaine Campbelle, Shamilia Connell, Afy Fletcher, Cherry Ann Fraser, Shabika Gajnabi, Jannillea Glasgow, Sheneta Grimmond, Chinelle Henry, Kyshona Knight, Natasha McLean, Chedean Nation, Karishma Ramharack, Shakera Selman, Stafanie Taylor, Rashada Williams.

Schedule: ODI Series - September 16, 18 and 22. T20I Series - September 25, 28, Oct 1, 4 and 6.
