ICC Men’s CWC League 2: Ayaan's all-round show thrash USA

Ayaan Khan contributed with both bat (41) and ball (4-36) to help Oman register a comfortable 72-run win against the United States of America in Match 42 of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 in Al Amerat. Oman posted 274/7 after they were asked to bat, and wrapped the USA up for 202 in 39.5 overs.

Jatinder Singh (42) and Pruthvikumar Macchi (25) first added 58 before Macchi was undone by Nosthush Kenjige (3-49) in the 11th over. Ayaan and Zeeshan Maqsood (51) carried the momentum took their side past 180 in the 39th over.

Sandeep Goud (25 in 22 balls), Naseem Khushi (35* in 22), Kaleemullah (16* in 8) all played breezy cameos. They aggregated 90 from the final 11 overs to steer Oman to a challenging total.

The USA got off to a terrible start after coming to the chase, losing both Steven Taylor (7) and Dominique Rikhi inside the opening eight overs. Monank Patel (56) and Gajanand Singh (48) scored runs quickly, but received little support from their teammates.

Barring Monank and Gajanand, no batter could even score 20. As a result, they were bowled out for 202 with 10.1 overs to spare. Ayaan was ably assisted by Khawar Ali (3-39).
