After India's 2-1 series win over New Zealand at home last week, opener Shubman Gill and fast-bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya have risen significantly in the latest ICC Men's T20I player rankings.
Gill's 126 not out off 63 balls in the series decider at Ahmedabad, which contributed to India's huge 168-run victory and helped seal the series 2-1, propelled him 168 places up the rankings to 30th. Gill is ranked sixth in ODIs and 62nd in Tests after scoring centuries in all three formats.
Pandya has advanced in all three lists after grabbing 4/16 and smashing a 17-ball 30 in the Ahmedabad T20I. He has risen from 53rd to 50th among batters, 66th to 46th among bowlers, and is now second among all-rounders, just a few rating points behind Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hassan.
Arshdeep Singh, Gill's teammate in the 2018 ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup-winning squad, is another Indian player to move up the rankings, climbing eight spots to a career-high 13th after finishing with 2/16 in Ahmedabad.
Daryl Mitchell, who led New Zealand with 35 points out of a possible 66 in Ahmedabad, has risen four places to joint-25th. England captain Jos Buttler's match-winning 131 in Kimberley has helped him climb six places to 20th in the Men's ODI rankings. Heinrich Klaasen of South Africa has risen 11 places to 42nd among batters.
Lungi Ngidi of South Africa has moved up five places to 19th after finishing with four for 62 in the high-scoring match. Other England players who have moved up in the ODI rankings include batter Dawid Malan (up 31 places to 58th) and fast bowler Jofra Archer (up 13 places to 22nd).
