Dewald Brevis’ all-round show (88-ball 97, 2-40) was not enough for South Africa as they lost to England by six wickets in the first Super League quarter-final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022, at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua. England bowled out South Africa for 209 in 43.4 overs after the latter opted to bat and reached the target in 31.2 overs.
England opener Jacob Bethell hit 42-ball 88, with 16 fours and two sixes, to blow South Africa away. He added 110 in 64 balls with George Thomas (19) for the opening wicket before William Luxton (47* in 41 balls) and George Bell (9*) saw off the target with 112 balls remaining.
Zimbabwe Under-19s v Scotland Under-19s
Zimbabwe 248 in 49.5 overs (Matthew Welch 78; Jack Jarvis 3-46) beat Scotland 140 in 39 overs (Tomas Mackintosh 25; David Bennett 3-25) by 108 runs.
Zimbabwe beat Scotland by 108 runs in the third Plate quarter-final of the tournament at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain. They posted 248 after opting to bat and bundled out Scotland for 140 in 39 overs.
Matthew Welch scored 78 in Zimbabwe’s total, while Brian Bennett made 54 in 58 balls and David Bennett 35 in 41. With 3-46, Jack Jarvis was the pick of the Scottish bowlers.
Scotland were knocked over for a meagre total, with only Jarvis (24) and Tomas Mackintosh (25) reaching 20. For Zimbabwe, Connor Mitchell and David Bennett claimed three wickets each.
West Indies Under-19s v Papua New Guinea Under-19s
West Indies 317/7 in 50 overs (Matthew Nandu 124; Boio Ray 3-43) beat Papua New Guinea 148 in 37.4 overs (Aue Oru 27*; Matthew Nandu 2-14) by 169 runs.
Matthew Nandu starred with both bat (124) and ball (2-14) to help West Indies beat Papua New Guinea by 169 runs in the fourth Plate quarter-final, at the Diego Martin Sporting Complex. West Indies piled 317/7 after being asked to bat, and skittled PNG out for 148 in 37.4 overs.
Nandu got support from Shaqkere Parris (64) and Kevin Wickham (61* in 48) to take West Indies past 300. For PNG, Aue Oru played a lone hand with 27 as they ended the campaign with another big defeat.
