New Zealand vs England

New Zealand 203 in 48.5 overs (Maddy Green 52*; Kate Cross 3-35) lost to England 204/9 in 47.2 overs (Nat Sciver 61; Frances Mackay 4-34) by 1 wicket with 16 balls to spare. Player of the Match: Nat Sciver.

England defeated New Zealand by one wicket at Eden Park in Auckland to keep the hope of semi-finals alive. They chased 204 with four balls remaining to register their second victory in the ICC Women's ODI World Cup. New Zealand, too, can still make it to top four – though that is purely of academic interest now.

Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine got New Zealand off to a steady start, adding 61 for the opening stand. Kate Cross broke through, by getting Bates caught by Tammy Beaumont for 22. Devine scored 41 in 48 balls, but Amelia Kerr (24) and Amy Satterthwaite (24) failed to convert their starts.

An unbeaten 52 from Maddy Green eventually helped New Zealand put up 203. None of the last six batters was able to reach the double-figure. Cross and Sophie Ecclestone claimed three wickets each, while Charlie Dean took two.

Danni Wyatt started with a flurry of boundaries in response before falling to Jess Kerr in the third over. Beaumont's dismissal in the 10th over reduced England to 53/2, but Heather Knight scored 43 in 52 balls to keep the asking rate in control. A 70-run stand between Sophia Dunkley and Nat Sciver (61) then took England close to the target.

Frances Mackay then bowled Dunkley (33) to open the floodgates, as England lost the five wickets for just 20 runs. With nine wickets down, Anya Shrubsole struck a boundary to take England across the target.
