Third Place Play-off, Uganda v Tanzania

Uganda 79 in 18.4 overs (Prosscovia Alako 20; Fatuma Kibasu 2-3) lost to Tanzania 82/1 in 13.2 overs (Saum Mtae  36; Janet Mbabazi 1-14) by 9 wickets with 40 balls to spare. Player of the Match: Fatuma Kibasu.

Tanzania beat Uganda by nine wickets in the third-place play-off of the Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier 2021 in Gaborone. They bowled out Uganda for 79 in 18.4 overs, and reached the target with nine wickets and 40 balls to spare.  

With 28-ball 20, Prosscovia Alako top-scored in Uganda’s 79. Rita Musamali and Immaculate Nakisuuyi scored 16 each. Sophia Jerome returned 4-0-11-2.

Fatuma Kibasu and Saum Mtae stitched a 74-run opening wicket stand in 75 balls to take the game away from Uganda. In the 14th over, Kibasu hit the winning four to take Tanzania past the finishing line.

Final, Zimbabwe v Namibia

Zimbabwe 133/4 in 20 overs (Chiedza Dhururu 44; Kayleen Green 2-22) beat Namibia 120/9 in 20 overs (Adri van der Merwe 29; Nomvelo Sibanda 2-7) by 13 runs. Player of the Match: Chiedza Dhururu.

Zimbabwe won the Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier to qualify for the eight-team Qualifier. Scotland have already qualified from the Europe Region.

Zimbabwe beat Namibia by 13 runs in the final. They posted 133/4 after opting to bat, and restricted Namibia to 120/9.

Earlier, Zimbabwe rode on Modester Mupachikwa’s 34 and Chiedza Dhururu’s 44 to reach a challenging total. Josephine Nkomo unbeaten on 22. Kayleen Green returned 2-22, and Victoria Hamunyela 4-1-11-0.

Coming to the chase, Namibia kept losing wickets in regular intervals. Wilka Mwatile (26) and Adri van der Merwe (29) exhibited resilience under pressure, but that too was not enough. They finished on 120/9.
