Semi-final 1, Zimbabwe v Uganda

Zimbabwe 108/6 in 20 overs (Precious Marange  40; Irene Alumo 2-13) beat Uganda 94 in 20 overs (Immaculate Nakisuuyi 18; Esther Mbofana 3-16) by 14 runs. Player of the Match: Precious Marange.

Precious Marange hit a quickfire 25-ball 40 to help Zimbabwe Women beat Uganda by 14 runs in the first semi-final of the Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier 2021.

Riding on Marange’s blistering knock, Zimbabwe recovered from 44/5, and reached 108/6 after opting to bat. Irene Alumo was the pick of the Uganda bowlers, with 2-13.

Coming to defend, Esther Mbofana and Tasmeen Granger returned 5-32 combined to bundle out Uganda for 94. Immaculate Nakisuuyi top-scored in this total, with 18. 24 runs came from extras.

Semi-final 2, Tanzania v Namibia

Tanzania 89/7 in 20 overs (Monica Pascal 30; Kayleen Green 2-9) lost to Namibia 90/8 in 19.4 overs (Irene van Zyl 22; Sophia Jerome 3-18) by 2 wickets with 2 balls to spare. Player of the Match: Irene van Zyl.

Namibia beat Tanzania by two wickets in the second semi-final of the Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier 2021.

Batting first, Tanzania struggled to reach 89/7, courtesy disciplined performance by the Namibia bowling unit, led by Kayleen Green and Wilka Mwatile. None of their bowlers went for more than five runs an over.

Nasra Saidi, Sophia Jerome and Perice Kamunya staged a valiant fightback. They shared eight wickets, and were ably assisted by Zinaida Jeremiah and Fatuma Kibasu. Still, it was not enough as Namibia reached the target with just two balls to spare.
