India will tour South Africa later this month for three Test matches and as many ODIs. The four-match T20I series, however, will be played later, as confirmed by the BCCI secretary Jay Shah to ANI: 'BCCI has confirmed CSA that the Indian team will travel for three Tests and three ODIs. The remaining four T20Is will be played at a later date.'

There was uncertainty over the tour after the emergence of a new variant of Covid-19. However, the BCCI is content with the security measures provided by CSA. The India A players have played two unofficial Tests in South Africa without any Covid-19 cases.

The Indian contingent will fly to South Africa soon after the completion of the second Test versus New Zealand. The first Test of the series is scheduled to begin on 17 December, in Johannesburg.
