India tour of Australia 2020-21 to kick off in Sydney; Day-night Test in Adelaide

Cricket Australia, on Wednesday (October 28), finally confirmed the dates and venues for India’s upcoming tour of Down Under. During this trip Virat Kohli’s side is scheduled to play ODIs and T20s in Sydney and Canberra ahead of the much-anticipated four-Test series starting with a Day-Night blockbuster in Adelaide.

The entire 32-player Indian contingent alongside the Australian players who are currently participating in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) will directly arrive in Sydney from Dubai on a chartered flight on November 12. Following their arrival in Australia the players need to quarantine till November 26 before kick-starting the tour with an One-Day International (ODI) at the Sydney Cricket Ground on November 27.  The next 50-over game will be played at the same venue on November 29 whereas Canberra’s Manuka Oval will host the final ODI on December 2.

The Canberra venue will then host the opening match of the T20I Series on December 4 before the two sides return to the SCG for two further T20Is, on December 6 and 8. All three T20Is will be played under lights.

Following the white-ball leg of the tour, the focus will shift to the highly-anticipated Border-Gavaskar trophy, which will commence in Adelaide with a pink-ball Test from December 17. It will be then followed by the traditional Boxing Day Test at the MCG from December 26.

Meanwhile, this time the new year Test in Sydney will be played from January 7 whereas the Gabba in Brisbane will host the final Test from January 15.

An Australia A squad will also play two warm-up matches against the Indians, with a three-day red-ball game at Drummoyne Oval in Sydney’s western suburbs on December 6-8, followed by a three-day, day-night match with the pink ball at the SCG from December 11-13.
