The Pakistan tour of India concluded with the sixth ODI in Jamshedpur.

It proved to be a run fest even though weather meant that the match was reduced from 50 to 44 overs a side.

Pakistan won the toss and chose to field, a decision that initially seemed ill-judged as Sunil Gavaskar and Manoj Prabhakar put on 154 for the first wicket.

However, the dismissal of Gavaskar for 69, including five fours, to a catch by Manzoor Elahi off the blowing of Abdul Qadir saw the innings temporarily checked, as Raman Lamba was then dismissed cheaply in turn.

It was then left to Dilip Vengsarkar to combine with Prabhakar. The pair shared a stand of 76 for the third wicket until Prabhakar was dismissed for 106, His innings had featured 13 fours.

Vengsarkar, who was 54 not out at the end, added 18 more with Ravi Shastri (10*), as India finished on 265/3.

Pakistan needed to score at over six an over to chase that down. Rameez Raja and Ijaz Ahmed put on 52 for the first wicket. Salim Malik fell for only 13. That brought Javed Miandad to the crease.

Ijaz was eventually dismissed for 72, having struck two sixes and six fours, but Miandad held the innings together, sharing partnerships with Imran Khan and Elahi, as Pakistan closed in on their target.

Finally, accompanied by Wasim Akram, they reached the finishing line with four balls to spare. Miandad was unbeaten on 78 at the end, scored off 71 balls, having scored a six and four fours.

Pakistan has won by five wickets.

They had won the six-match ODI series 5-1. The only one they lost, the third ODI, had resulted in a tie, but had gone to India because they had lost fewer wickets. Added to their victory in the Test series as well, it had been successful tour for them.
