The BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced on Tuesday following the board's Annual General Meeting that the Indian cricket team would not be visiting Pakistan and would insist on a neutral location for the Asia Cup the following year.
According to the International Cricket Council's Future Tours Program, Pakistan has been given the right to host the 2023 Asia Cup.
The BCCI, however, decided during their AGM that they would not travel to their neighbouring country for the tournament and urged that it be shifted to a neutral venue.
The Asian Cricket Council's (ACC) president, Shah, was quoted by Cricbuzz as saying, "Neutral venue for the Asia Cup is not uncommon and we have decided that we would not travel to Pakistan."
I've decided that we'll play at a neutral location," he continued.
Notably, the 2022 Asia Cup was also held at a neutral location due to the host nation Sri Lanka's deepening political and economic crises. Sri Lanka won the competition in the United Arab Emirates by defeating Pakistan in the championship match.
