Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by nine wickets to kickstart their second half of the IPL 2021 with a victory. Andre Russell and Varun Chakravarthy picked three wickets each to bowl out Bangalore for 92 in 19 overs. Lockie Ferguson also chipped in two wickets. Devdutt Padikkal's 22 was the highest score of the innings.

Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer then added 82 runs for the opening wicket to take the sting out of the contest. Gill fell two runs short of a well-deserved half-century. Iyer remained unbeaten on 41 to drive the team across the fifnishing line.
