Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will lock horns with five-time winners Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday in Match 5 of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
The numbers are stacked up heavily in favour of Mumbai, who have won nine of the last ten clashes between the sides. However, KKR may turn the fortune this time under their World-Cup winning captain Eoin Morgan, who had assumed the responsibility halfway through last season.

KKR began their season with a comfortable 10-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Nitish Rana was adjudged Player of the Match for an impressive 56-ball 80 on a slow, low Chepauk pitch. Rahul Tripathi also notched up a half-century.

Mumbai, on the other hand, lost the curtain-raiser against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) off the last ball of the match. Chris Lynn top-scored for MI, with 49, at a strike rate of 140. But a magnificent bowling spell by Harshal Patel, followed by a masterclass from AB de Villiers, helped RCB clinch the match. Somewhat uncharacteristically, the Mumbai bowlers failed to perform as a unit.
Though we have witnessed one-sided affairs whenever these two sides have gone head-to-head, a close contest is likely on the cards on Tuesday.
