Match 29 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 saw Delhi Capitals (DC) registering the sixth victory of their campaign after thrashing Punjab Kings (PBKS) by seven wickets in Ahmedabad.

Asked in to bat first, the Punjab openers struggled to get going in the Powerplay. Prabhsimran Singh scored just 12 in 16 balls, while Chris Gayle got out cheaply on 13. The onus fell on stand-in skipper Mayank Agarwal to bat through the innings with an unbeaten 57-ball 99. Punjab finished on 166/6.

In reply, Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan attacked straightaway and amassed 63 runs in the Powerplay. Harpreet Brar then bowled Shaw through the gate. Dhawan and Steven Smith forged an important partnership before Shimron Hetmyer finished off the game with two sixes and a four.

Orange Cap

Dhawan regained the top spot in the run-scoring chart during the course of the match. With 380 runs in eight innings, he is the current holder of the Orange Cap. Shaw’s quickfire 38 has helped him to climb to No. 4, while Jos Buttler’s scintillating century against SRH has propelled him to seventh place.
