After a time period of about two years, IPL will finally return to India on 9th April 2021
The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Sunday released the official schedule of IPL 2021. The 14th edition of the league will begin on 9th April and conclude with a final on 30th May.
A total of six venues, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai & Kolkata will host the marquee event. The opener between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore will take place on April 9, Chennai.
The recently furbished Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host all four playoff matches, including the final.
Each team is set to play at four out of six venues during the league stage. While Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata & Bengaluru will host 10 matches each during the league stages while Ahmedabad and Delhi will host 8 matches each.
One of the highlights of this edition of this season will be the fact that all matches will be played at neutral venues, no team will play at their home venue.
There will be a total of 11 double headers with six teams playing three afternoon matches & two teams playing two afternoon matches. The afternoon games are slated for a 3:30 PM IST start while the evening games will have a 7:30 PM IST start.
