Gujarat Titans beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets off the last ball in Match 40 of the Indian Premier League 2022 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Rashid Khan stole the show with his brilliant finish, hitting four sixes in his 11-ball 31 not out, while Rahul Tewatia remained unbeaten on a 21-ball 40, after Wriddhiman Saha played a blitz at the top.

Sunrisers Hyderabad 195/6 in 20 overs

Kane Williamson's struggles continued as he took eight balls for five runs before Mohammed Shami bowled him. Rahul Tripathi looked in fluent touch before falling to Shami early. Abhishek Sharma and Aiden Markram then added 96 for the third wicket to get Hyderabad back on the track. Abhishek struck six fours and three sixes in his innings, and Markram too hit boundaries to keep the run rate ticking. Hyderabad reached 140/2 after 15 overs.

However, once Markram and Abhishek fell in quick intervals and Shami got Nicholas Pooran early, Hyderabad seemed set for a collapse. Shashank Singh then struck three sixes off the last three balls to propel the Sunrisers to 195/6. Marco Jansen too contributed with a six in the final over.

Gujarat Titans 199/5 in 20 overs

Shubman Gill and Saha got Gujarat off to a steady start with their 68-run stand for the opening stand. Umran Malik broke through in the eighth over, bowling Gill on 22. In his next over, he had Hardik Pandya caught by Jansen. Saha struck 11 fours and a six in his 38-ball 68. Umran Malik bowled him with a fast yorker. He took two more wickets to finish with 5-25, single-handedly keeping Hyderabad in the game.

With 22 needed off the final over, Tewatia started off with a six before giving the strike to Rashid, who hit three sixes in five balls to get Gujarat past the target.
