Delhi Capitals (RCB) will play Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 50 of IPL 2022 on 5 May, at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
Both sides need to make this match count to boost their playoffs hopes. Delhi, in particular, are off the pace, but know that a good win could put them right back in the mix for a top four finish. Hyderabad, who have recovered from losing their opening two matches of the season to climb to fourth, have lost two on the trot. However, if they win here, they have the chance to move above the Rajasthan Royals.
Both, though, come into this matches off the back of defeats, Delhi to Lucknow by six runs, and Hyderabad, to Chennai by 13 runs. Hyderabad's bowling had a night to forget in that game. They will look to bounce back.
This is the first time these two teams are meeting this season. Historically, the sides have met 20 times before, and Hyderabad hold an 11-9 lead.
Rishabh Pant, who lost his match fee after his petulant behaviour in the match against Rajasthan last week, needs to do more to show that giving him the Delhi captaincy was a good thing, and he could do well to learn from his opposite number in this encounter, Kane Williamson, who remains one of the coolest heads in the business.
Likely XIs:
Delhi Capitals: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Lalit Yadav, Rovman Powell, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman, Chetan Sakariya.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: Kane Williamson (c), Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Washington Sundar, Shashank Singh, Marco Jansen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T. Natarajan, Umran Malik.
Fantasy Tips:
- Warner will feel that he has a point to prove up against the franchise he served so well for so may years. This is an opportunity to remind them of his talent. If he can hit two sixes in this match, his IPL career tally will go up to 400.
- The Hyderabad batting has lacked consistency in recent games. Now would be a time for the likes of Williamson, Markram and Tripathi to find some sustained form;
- Bhuvneshwar is due a big game, whilst the pace of Malik has seen him attract plenty of interest.
Prediction:
The season is now getting to the stage where every win is vital for those teams who want to make the playoffs. Hyderabad appear to have the more balanced side, which should give them the edge.
