Chennai Super Kings beat Delhi Capitals by 91 runs in Match 55 of the Indian Premier League 2022 at Dr D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Devon Conway starred with 87 before Moeen Ali's three wickets secured a massive win for Chennai.

Chennai Super Kings 208/6 in 20 overs

After an unceremonious start to his IPL career, Conway bounced back in style on his comeback to the team. His presence at the top has been a major reason behind Chennai looking solid with bat over the last few games. While Ruturaj Gaikwad struggled to find boundaries, Conway took it upon himself and provided Chennai with a rapid start.

Gaikwad, though, did well to hang around and let Conway do his things without any worry. They added 110 in 11 overs before Anrich Nortje got Ruturaj for 41.  Conway was 87 when he edged to Rishabh Pant off Khaleel Ahmed, Delhi's most frugal bowler of the night. Shivam Dube (32) then struck two fours and two sixes in 19 balls, but Ambati Rayudu could not do much. MS Dhoni's 8-ball 21 helped Chennai reach 208/6.

Delhi Capitals 117 in 17.4 overs

Delhi had to include K.S. Bharat in the place of Prithvi Shaw, who was ruled out of the game due to a high fever. On his debut for Delhi, Bharat edged to Moeen at slip while trying to pull a short-pitched ball from Simarjeet Singh in the second over. David Warner too had a rare failure, getting pinned leg-before by Maheesh Theekshana.

All hopes of revival were pinned on Mitchell Marsh and Rishabh Pant. Marsh began well until his struggles against spin came to fore, and he was eventually dismissed by Moeen, while Pant was bowled by 21. Having already fallen far behind the asking rate, Delhi needed a miraculous intervention from Rovman Powell to reignite the chase. Mukesh Choudhary got him for a nine-ball three.

Delhi Capitals were eventually bowled out for 117. Moeen (3-13) was the pick of the bowlers, while Mukesh and Simarjeet claimed two wickets apiece.
