Glenn Maxwell of Australia says missing next month's Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India due to injury will "probably nag him" for the rest of his life.
Glenn Maxwell was injured at a friend's birthday party in November of last year when he slipped and broke his fibula in his left leg. He was out for a long time due to the injury.
"It'll probably nag at me for the rest of my life," Maxwell said this week during a Big Bash League commentary stint for Fox Cricket.
Maxwell has stated that he is using the disappointment of his injury to prepare for the final few years of his career.
"I started looking forward, thinking I will make the best recovery possible - I'll come back early, and be stronger than ever. "I started using it as a motivator rather than thinking, 'Oh no, why has this happened to me?'" he explained.
"I tried to turn it around and think how can I finish the back end of my career, be the fittest and healthiest and most motivated I have been? Maxwell went on to say.
Australia will play India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which begins on February 9 in Nagpur and will be followed by a three-match One-Day International series from March 17 to 22.
