Six sixes in an over is a rare occurrence. A bowler getting whacked for six sixes just one over after he picked a hattrick is even rarer. In fact, it happened for the first time in international cricket on Wednesday night in Antigua.

Sri Lanka off-spinner picked a hattrick in the fourth over against West Indies in the first T20I. He sent Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran back to the pavilion off the second, third and fourth delivery of the over. But not many would’ve anticipated what would happen in his next over.

West Indies were 62/4 chasing 132 at the end of five overs. Skipper Kieron Pollard accelerated the process in the sixth over by Dananjaya. The all-rounder became only the second batsmen to hit six sixes in a T2oI.

Twitterati went berserk on the madness that took place in the two overs of Akila Dananjaya.

Pollard eventually fell to Wanindu Hasaranga in the next over but the damage was done. West Indies finished the game in the 14th over with four wickets left.

“Obviously it’s going to be up there. It is international cricket, this is not franchise cricket or club cricket,” Pollard said after the game.

The cricket fraternity including the first batsman to hit six sixes in a T20I congratulated the 33-year old on the astonishing achievement.
