Lanka Premier League 2 to be postponed: Report Image

The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will have to postpone the second edition of the Lanka Premier League, Inside Sport reported. SLC made the decision after several foreign players made themselves unavailable for the tournament.

Speaking to Inside Sport, a top SLC official confirmed the development: ‘It is unfortunate that the tournament will have to be postponed. Be it Bangladesh, the West Indies, Pakistan or England players – none of them is available at this stage.’

Further, the official mentioned they are yet to decide on the new schedule. The board will check others’ fixtures to find a second window to host the tournament.

The SLC have already ended contracts with Colombo Kings and Dambulla Viking from the competition. Cricbuzz reported they have also terminated one more franchise, defending champions Jaffna Stallions, though the announcement is to be made official. With that, the five-team tournament is currently down with two.

LPL 2 was scheduled to begin on 30 July, and was supposed to run until 22 August.
