Mark Chapman, a left-handed hitter, was added to the New Zealand ODI team on Tuesday in preparation for the five-game series against Pakistan that gets underway here on Thursday.
Gary Stead, the head coach, praised Chapman's riveting efforts over the course of the five-match T20 series, which finished in a 2-2 tie.
"Mark has played in a way that is nothing short of remarkable against one of the top T20 bowling attacks in the world. In a press statement, Stead remarked, "We're thrilled to have someone in such excellent form added to our ODI squad. His match-winning performance in the fifth and deciding match was particularly memorable.
In a five-game T20I series, Chapman's total runs total of 290 is the highest by any player.
Chapman, along with recent newcomers Tom Blundell and Henry Nicholls, will bring the BlackCaps tour party's total to 16, while T20 squad member Dane Cleaver will make his scheduled return to New Zealand.
