The defending champion Jaffna Kings kept up their winning streak by defeating Dambulla Aura by 9 wickets to win their second consecutive game in the Lanka Premier League (LPL).
In their second at-bat, they completed the distance with 4 overs remaining. The Jaffna Kings were able to win easily thanks to the opening partnership of Sadeera Samarawickrama (62 from 44 balls) and Avishka Fernando (51 from 49 balls). Fernando's innings had 4 boundaries and 1 six, compared to Sadeera's 7 boundaries and 1 six. Noor Ahmad took one wicket for Dambulla Aura.
Earlier, Dambulla Aura elected to bat first after winning the toss. The foundation for the Dambulla Aura was laid by Jordan Cox and Shevon Daniel. Jordan led Dambulla Aura in scoring with 43 runs from 22 balls, including 3 boundaries and 4 sixes.
Aura was unable to capitalise on the momentum, though, as wickets continued to fall often. Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Ramesh Mendis contributed 18 and 10 runs, respectively, toward the end of the innings to aid the team in reaching 121 with the loss of 9 wickets. Vijayakanth Viyaskanth (3/24) and Maheesh Theekshana (3/20) were the bowlers of choice for the Jaffna Kings. James Fuller added as well, taking 2/16.
