In a significant move to increase interest in cricket in South Asian nations, the IPG Group will launch the Malaysian T20 league in June and July 2023.

The IPG Group has another major task on its mind and will launch a T20 league in Malaysia with the purpose of elevating cricket in the nation following the resounding success of the three editions of the Lanka Premier League.

The Malaysian T20 League will include five teams and four Malaysian players in the starting lineup. The IPG Group and the Malaysian Cricket Association have a long-term contract that is exclusive, under which the IPG Group owns all rights to linear TV, digital content, operations, marketing, and commercials.

The league will provide the nation's cricket players with a fantastic opportunity to compete against some of the top cricketing talents in the globe. The Malaysian Cricket Association is an associate member of the ICC.

"Our eagerness to launch a T20 competition in Malaysia is palpable. We saw the potential of associate nations during the recently finished T20 World Cup as they pulled off numerous upsets against elite teams, and our goal is to elevate the Malaysian cricket team to such levels. We think that a T20 league can help the Malaysian cricket team by showcasing some of the top cricketing talent in the nation "As the official promoter of LPL and founder and CEO of IPG, Anil Mohan said.

He added, "A lot of top cricketers in the world will come to Malaysia to play in the upcoming Malaysian T20 league and it will a great opportunity for the local players to learn from them. We want to bring Malaysian players together with some of the highly skilful players in world cricket. They can learn about different aspects of the game from them which will eventually take cricket in this country to new heights."

The Malaysian T20 league will be used to identify some of the greatest players in the nation since Malaysia is currently rated 28th in the ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings. Mohammed Iqbal Ali bin Kassim Ali, the head of the Malaysian Cricket Association, praised IPG Group for introducing the league to his country.

"The Malaysian Cricket Association appreciates the IPG Group's vision and willingness to host their T20 league in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. IPG Group has successfully delivered many leagues in different countries including the Lanka Premier League and we are confident the Malaysian T20 league will be a huge success as well," commented, Mohammed Iqbal Ali bin Kassim Ali.
