Punjab Kings have named Mayank Agarwal their captain for the Indian Premier League 2022. Agarwal has been with Punjab since 2018, and led them last year when K.L. Rahul missed a few matches due to injury.
'I have been at Punjab Kings since 2018 and I take a lot of pride in representing this fantastic unit. I am delighted to be given the opportunity to lead the team. I take over this responsibility with utmost sincerity, but at the same time,' stated Agarwal over his appointment.
Agarwal was retained by Punjab Kings ahead of the mega-auction. Over the last couple of years, he has emerged into one of the most consistent opening batters of the league.
He will work with head coach Anil Kumble. Punjab Kings have assembled a strong squad, acquiring the likes of Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Kagiso Rabada and Shahrukh Khan.
