Preview

The two best teams in the competition eventually made it after a lot of huff and puff to the finals and the winners of IPL 2020 will be decided by this grand finale in Dubai on Tuesday.  Mumbai Indians, the clear dominant team of the season, will be favourites to win the title but as Delhi showed against Sunrisers last game, they know to step up when needed and have the team to do so too.

Delhi Capitals lost five of their last seven games and were staring down the abyss with no one giving them a chance even in the second qualifiers. They have lost thrice to Mumbai this season and four times on the trot since last season and will be hoping their better side shows up in the finals.

The match-up will be between Jasprit Bumrah and Kagiso Rabada, the frontrunners for the purple cap, separated by just two wickets. Delhi’s pacers and Mumbai’s hard hitting middle-order guns will be the major battle to watch out for.

Team news and predicted XI

DC could be shuffling up things a bit for this game. Harshal Patel could come in for Pravin Dubey if they do want to strengthen the lower order against Mumbai and add pace for Dubai. Shimron Hetmyer might be pushed up to no.3 to counter Mumbai’s spinners.

Mumbai will likely field the same team as they did in the first qualifier where they comprehensively beat Delhi. Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult and Nathan Coulter-Nile should form the fast bowling trio. Ishan Kishan is likely to continue in the middle-order with Rohit Sharma opening.

Predicted XI

Delhi Capitals

Marcus Stoinis, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Ajinkya Rahane, Shimron Hetmyer, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Kagiso Rabada, Ravichandran Ashwin, Anrich Nortje

Mumbai Indians

Quinton de Kock, Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Rahul Chahar, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah

Fantasy tips

  • Rohit Sharma is in poor form and costs way too much to balance your side well. Unless you want to make a huge gamble, sit him out.
  • Kagiso Rabada showed that despite being off colour he can pick wickets and should be a good fit in your team.
  • Shikhar Dhawan found some form too last game but against MI’s bowling he remains a vulnerable pick. You might want to try leave him out and stock on some bankable players.
  • I am banking on Mumbai to win this easy and hence have their core bowling and big run-scorers in there.
  • Hardik is a good match-up for Delhi’s middle overs bowling and can be picked.
  • Ashwin, likewise, is useful against Mumbai’s left-handed heavy middle. But choose between him, Krunal and Chahar.
