Minor League Cricket (MiLC) is all set to kick off its highly anticipated third season this summer, with the spotlight on the upcoming domestic player draft scheduled for Wednesday. As American cricket continues to grow, this draft provides an opportunity for teams to select some of the country's most promising talents.

MiLC has been strategically designed to prioritize the development of domestic players, ensuring that teams are constructed with a strong focus on nurturing local talent. The forthcoming season promises a thrilling showcase of cricket for fans across America.

Zubin Surkari, the Tournament Director of Minor League Cricket, expressed his excitement, stating, "The third season of Minor League Cricket promises to bring more great action for American cricket fans this summer." Surkari also extended gratitude to Sunoco, the title partner, for their ongoing support in fueling the competition. Additionally, he welcomed Laxmi, a prominent South Asian food brand, as a partner in their mission to establish MiLC as America's most extensive cricket competition.

The team roster structure for the upcoming season is as follows: Each team will have a minimum of 16 players and a maximum of 18 players. The draft will be divided into regional zones to ensure fair selection from local catchment areas. Teams will be required to include a significant number of developing young players on their rosters, including at least two U-21 players and one U-19 player. Furthermore, every playing eleven must feature a minimum of two U-21 players.

While teams have the opportunity to retain up to three players from the 2022 season, they will not be eligible for selection in the draft. Moreover, teams have the flexibility to include professional players with international experience in their rosters. These seasoned players will contribute to enhancing the level of performance during training and matches, further aiding the development of domestic talent. The selection of these players will primarily occur in the "Priority Domestic Player" and "Wildcard Player" categories, which fall outside of the draft.

With the stage set and anticipation building, Minor League Cricket is ready to deliver another thrilling season that celebrates the growth of cricket in America.
