As per ESPNCricinfo, Moeen Ali is expected to announce his retirement from Test cricket with immediate effect. Moeen has recently informed his decision to England Men's head coach Chris Silverwood and captain Joe Root.

Moeen has represented England in 64 Test matches. He has aggregated 2,914 runs and 195 wickets, and finished only 86 runs and 5 wickets short of becoming the 16th cricketer to do the 3,000 run-200 wicket double. Only 15 English bowlers have taken more Test wickets than him.

However, he will continue to play in limited-overs cricket, county, and franchise leagues across the world, though he is unlikely to continue First-class cricket.

Moeen is currently in the UAE, and is playing for Chennai Super Kings in the remainder of the IPL 2021.
