George Munsey (50 in 33 balls) and Richie Berrington (41* in 28) guided Scotland an eight-wicket win against Papua New Guinea in a T20I in Dubai.

Munsey gave Scotland the start they needed in pursuit of 155. Kyle Coetzer (14 in 9) looked ominous, but his brisk innings came to an end in the fourth over, when he was bowled by Chad Soper (1-23). At No. 3, Ollie Hairs struck a six and a four in his unbeaten 10-ball before he had to retire hurt.

Munsey and Berrington took charge from there, taking the game away from PNG. Calum MacLeod (27* in 28) played second fiddle to Berrington in their unbroken 71-run stand, as they reached the target with 13 balls to spare.

Earlier, Assad Vala top-scored with 43-ball 55 in PNG’s 154/5 after they opted to bat. Sese Bau also scored an unbeaten 38 off 26 balls, but in the end, it was still not enough.

Chris Greaves was the most impressive Scottish bowler, returning 1-17. Hamza Tahir returned 2-35 and Calum MacLeod 1-28. Scotland will next play against Namibia on 9 October, at the same venue.
