The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has threatened to respond by not sending its team to India for the 2023 World Cup after Indian cricket board (BCCI) honorary secretary Jay Shah announced that India will not visit Pakistan for the upcoming Asia Cup T20 Tournament.
Aakash Chopra, a former India opener, thinks the PCB would not stick to its original declaration and will undoubtedly send a side to India for the 50-over World Cup.
He claimed he could "provide in writing" that Pakistan will undoubtedly visit India for the ODI World Cup and that India will not be going to Pakistan for the Asia Cup next year.
"There is no chance that the Asia Cup would take place at all if India chose not to participate. Comparing the Asia Cup to the world cup, it is a minor competition. By skipping the World Cup, you will forfeit a significant portion of the revenue that ICC shares (with the participating nations). It comes down to who blinks first. Therefore, I don't take this seriously. I believe a neutral location will host the Asia Cup in 2023 "On his YouTube channel, Chopra stated.
According to Chopra, India will have its way with the Asia Cup due to the nation's financial clout, and the competition is probably going to be postponed.
"ACC is a collaboration, of course. But few are aware that India does not receive any money from ACC. Whether it is 4 million or 8 million, everyone takes a specific amount from the (ACC) coffer, but India ends up giving out their portion instead "According to Chopra's channel.
"India has been acting as the ACC's big brother. I can guarantee that India won't if it has been suggested that the team would not visit Pakistan. A neutral location will also host the Asia Cup. Pakistan will undoubtedly travel to compete in the World Cup as well (in India)... Take this information from writing. These are all guaranteed things " he added.
Before that, India will meet Pakistan in their T20 World Cup opener in Melbourne on October 23. The ongoing debate over the schedule is likely to add more spice to the already hyped-up clash.
