Karachi Kings became the first team from Pakistan Super League’s history to lose their opening seven matches in a single edition. They completed this 'feat' with a one-run defeat against Islamabad United in Match 21 of the ongoing edition, in Lahore.
Chasing 192, Sharjeel Khan hit a 29-ball 44 before falling to Asif Ali in the 11th over, and Karachi soon slipped from 76/2 to 80/5. Imad Wasim and Qasim Akram added 108 for the sixth wicket. But with two to score off the last two balls, all Karachi did was lose two wickets to close on 190/8.
Earlier, Shadab Khan’s 26-ball 34, Faheem Ashraf’s unbeaten 10-ball 29, and Asif’s 11-ball 28 helped Islamabad reach 191/7. Azam Khan made a 14-ball 22 and Alex Hales a 19-ball 25.
Barring Mohammad Nabi, all five Karachi bowlers took at least a wicket. Imad impressed the most, returning 2-30. Mir Hamza went for less than eight an over as well for a solitary wicket.
