With India one up, the Test series concluded with the third Test match, in Bengaluru.

Bad weather delayed the start of the match. When play did finally get underway, Pakistan batted having won the toss.

They lost both openers cheaply before Younis Khan and captain Inzamam ul-Haq came together and took the match by the scruff of the neck with a stand of 324 for the third wicket.

Inzamam, the more aggressive of the pair, was the first to depart, having faced 361 balls for his 184 that included 25 fours. Younis Khan doggedly resisted to help Pakistan add another 238 runs before he was the penultimate man to fall, for 267. He had faced 504 balls, and hit a six and 32 fours.

Pakistan were all out for 570. Harbhajan Singh took six wickets but at the cost of 152 runs.

Virender Sehwag then proved that anything that Younis and Inzamam could do, he was equally capable of matching. He scored 201 before he was finally caught and bowled, having smashed two sixes and 28 fours.

Unfortunately for India, they did not have enough men able to give him support, apart from V.V.S. Laxman, who made 79. India were eventually all out for 449, conceding a first-innings deficit of 121. Danish Kaneria was the most successful Pakistan bowler, taking 5-127.

Pakistan looked to press home their advantage in their second innings. The opening pair of Yasir Hameed and Shahid Afridi gave them a fine start with a partnership of 91. Afridi blasted 58 off just 34 balls with two sixes and eight fours. After his departure, Younis and Hameed added 92 more before Hameed went for 76, with a six and seven fours.

Younis and Inzamam added 78 more before the decision was made to declare on 261/2, with Younis unbeaten on 84 and Inzamam on 31.

India were set 383 to win. After opener Gautam Gambhir fell for 52, a batting collapse saw four wickets go for the addition of 27 runs. Anil Kumble provided some resistance with an unbeaten 37, but it was ultimately in a losing cause as India were all out for 214.

The Pakistan bowlers shared the wickets amongst themselves as their side won by 168 runs to square the series.

Younis Khan was named Man of the Match, but Sehwag had the consolation of the Player of the Series award.
