Pakistan having won the first T20I, the teams met again in Ahmedabad for the second match in the series. Pakistan again won the toss and chose to field, but the tactic did not have the same success this time.

India made a reasonable start, Gautam Gambhir and Ajinkya Rahane putting on 44 for the first wicket in less than five overs, before Gambhir fell for 21. Two overs later, Rahane fell for 28, bringing Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh together.

They added 35 before Kohli fell. Then Yuvraj and captain M.S. Dhoni took over, sharing a 97-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Yuvraj made 72 off just 56 balls, including seven sixes and four fours. Dhoni, by his standards, was relatively more restrained, making 33 off 23 balls, with four fours.

They both fell in the last over, but there was still time for Rohit Sharma to hit a four as India finished on 192/5. Umar Gul took 4-37 for Pakistan.

The Pakistan reply began well, with their opening pair of Nasir Jamshed and Ahmed Shehzad putting on 74, although it took them nearly half their allotted overs to do so.

Both then fell in quick succession, Jamshed for 41 and Shehzad for 31. Umar Akmal and captain Mohammad Hafeez then added 62 for the third wicket until they lost Akmal for 24. By this stage, Pakistan were slipping behind the asking rate.

That led to a series of batsmen getting themselves out attempting big shots. The loss of Hafeez for 55 was another blow to their chances, especially as he had already hit three sixes by that stage. In the end, Pakistan could only make 181/7, giving India victory by 11 runs. Ashok Dinda was the most successful of the Indian bowlers, with 3-36.

Player of the Match was Yuvraj, whilst Hafeez had the consolation of being named Player of the Series.
