An unbroken 78-run ninth-wicket stand between Emily Windsor (47* in 97 balls) and Tara Norris (40* in 44 balls) made headlines in the final match of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy in Northampton.

Southern Vipers were chasing 184 against Northern Diamonds. They rode on the Windsor-Norris partnership after slipping to 107/7 to reach the target with just two balls to spare.

Earlier, Scotland Vipers were bundled out for 183 in 49.2 overs after opting to bat. At No. 5, Ami Campbell struck five fours in her 73-ball 60, but did not receive the support she required. Linsey Smith (31) and Bess Heath (25) had starts, but failed to convert them into anything substantial.

With 4-35, Georgia Adams was the pick of the Vipers bowlers. Tara Norris returned 2-36 and Charlotte Taylor 2-26, while Georgia Elwiss and Paige Scholfield claimed a wicket each.

Coming to the chase, the Vipers got off to a poor start, losing both Adams and Ella McCaughan for nought. Maia Bouchier (33) and Gaby Lewis (24) exhibited resilience under pressure, but did not last long. But Windsor and Norris took the game away from the Diamonds in the final over of the contest. Jenny Gunn did the most damage for the Diamonds, returning 3-31.
