Madhya Pradesh 271/6 (Himanshu Mantri 134*; Mukesh Kumar 2-45) vs Bengal.

Himanshu Mantri scored his maiden First-class hundred (134*) and batted through Day 1 to help Madhya Pradesh post 271/6 against Bengal in the first semi-final of the 2021/22 Ranji Trophy, in Alur. Mukesh Kumar's (2-45) early blows, followed by some incisive bowling from his teammates, reduced MP to 97/4 before Mantri and Akshat Raghuwanshi (63) added 123 for the fifth wicket. Akash Deep (2-55) struck twice towards the end of the day.

Mumbai 260/5 (Yashasvi Jaiswal 100; Yash Dayal 2-35) vs Uttar Pradesh.

Day 1 of the second semi-final, in Bengaluru, panned out in a fashion similar to the first. Early strikes from Yash Dayal (2-35) reduced Mumbai to 87/3 before Yashasvi Jaiswal (100) added 83 with Sarfaraz Khan and 63 with wicketkeeper Hardik Tamore (51*). Mumbai finished the day on 260/5.
