Chetan Sharma, the chairman of selectors, confirmed on Monday that star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will rejoin India's Test and ODI teams for the upcoming trip of Bangladesh.

Because of a knee injury he sustained during the Asia Cup in August and subsequent surgery, the 33-year-old Jadeja was unable to participate in the current T20 World Cup. The all-rounder has posted footage of his recovery over the past three weeks, giving the impression that he is making steady progress and is recovering.

Chief Selector Sharma stated that Jadeja's membership in the team is contingent upon the results of his physical.

While on break from the tour of New Zealand in November, which starts five days after the T20 World Cup final in Australia, senior players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul will also join the team for the trip of Bangladesh.

Rajat Patidar and Rahul Tripathi were given a spot in the squad for Bangladesh ODIs as a result of their outstanding batting displays during the white-ball series between India A and New Zealand A. Yash Dayal, a left-arm pacer from Uttar Pradesh who is also on the ODI team, has received his first call-up to the Indian national team.

Jasprit Bumrah, who also missed the current T20 World Cup in Australia due to a back ailment, is still recovering from this setback and will therefore be unable to participate in the tours of New Zealand and Bangladesh.

Sharma responded that the selectors did not want to hurry him back into the side when questioned about the timeline for his return.

"I talk about managing the guys often. We closely monitor the management of workload. When the World Cup was approaching, we attempted to move quickly with Jasprit Bumrah, but as you can see, we are playing without him. He is receiving excellent care from the NCA staff and the medical team, and he will unquestionably be an integral part of the team very soon, most likely against Australia. Jasprit Bumrah, though, was used with some caution against Bangladesh as we attempted to avoid doing the same thing twice "explained the chief selector.

But given the volume of cricket and the load management of players, we have to keep looking after their bodies because, at the end of the day, they are human. But he (Bumrah) will be back soon, there are good teams working with him, and I'm hopeful that he'll start playing for India soon. The selectors don't like changing teams and captains.

Hanuma Vihari has been left off the team for the two-Test series, which is a part of the ICC World Test Championship, but Ajinkya Rahane has been left off the squad after being left off for both the Sri Lankan series and the fifth Test against England.

"Those who perform can enter at any time. He attended the performance by Cheteshwar Pujara (in the team). Ajinkya Rahane is making an effort and has scored a few runs, but he still needs to score more runs if he wants to rejoin the team. And he is aware of that since he communicates frequently with the selection committee "Regarding Rahane's exclusion, Sharma remarked.

"If you look at the middle order and how packed it is, even Hanuma Vihari doesn't have a place. So to break into this, the kind of performance that is required, the selectors don't have to tell Ajinkya about it. He understands that. He is a great player, played 90-plus Test matches, and he knows how to get into the team," he continued.

The first phase of India's trip of Bangladesh consists of three one-day internationals, which will be played in Dhaka on December 4, 7, and 10.

The first Test will be played from December 14-18 in Chattogram and the teams will return to Dhaka for the second Test which will be held from December 22-26. The Test matches are part of the ICC Test Championship.
