While India's Suryakumar Yadav holds down the fourth spot in the most recent list announced on Wednesday, Mohammad Rizwan, the captain of Pakistan, has supplanted Babar Azam as the world's top-ranked T20I batter in the ICC Rankings.
In the Asia Cup, Rizwan has been in outstanding form, topping the run charts with 192 runs in three games. He was Pakistan's cornerstone in their victories over India and Hong Kong, scoring an undefeated 78 and 71 runs in each of their victories. Due to his performances, he has moved up one rank in the standings, passing Babar, who has had a difficult competition thus far.
After Babar and Misbah-ul-Haq, Rizwan is the third Pakistani batsman to hold the top spot in the T20I rankings. According to the ICC, Babar has led the T20I batting rankings for 1155 days in his career (as of September 7).
After scoring 72 against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup Super Four match, captain Rohit Sharma has moved up four spots to 13th.
Other significant changes in the batting order include Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka moving up one slot to No. 8 following his outstanding performance in the Asia Cup. In his last three games, Nissanka has scored 20, 35, and 52 points, with his most recent effort helping Sri Lanka defeat India in a Super Four match.
One of the biggest movers is Afghanistan batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who rose 14 spots to No.15 thanks to his 84 against Sri Lanka in the Super Four match.
Following their outstanding performances, the spinners from Sri Lanka and Afghanistan have risen the highest in the bowling rankings. Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Akeel Hosein of the West Indies are now tied for sixth place after Mujeeb Ur Rahman's 2/30 enabled him move up three spots.
Maheesh Theekshana of Sri Lanka has been at his most frugal throughout the Asia Cup, posting statistics of 1/23, 1/29, and 1/29 in the last three games. He climbs five spots to No. 8 and into the top-10. Shadab Khan climbs one rank to No.14 after victories over India and Hong Kong on 2/31 and 4/8, respectively.
