Indian batter Rohit Sharma, who is the stand-in skipper for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh, was hit on his left thigh while taking throwdowns in Delhi on Friday and had to leave the practice session ahead of the first T20I that is scheduled for November 3.

Rohit, who takes over the responsibility of leading the side in Rohit Sharma’s absence, received the blow after a sharp delivery hit him on his left thigh while he was taking throwdowns.

He immediately left the nets and was visibly upset at the pace of the throwdown delivery that was hurled at him. The Indian team management has designated left-arm throwdown expert Nuwan of Sri Lanka for the series, to counter the left-arm seam bowler Mustafizur Rahman’s threat in the upcoming series.

It was learnt that Rohit was taking treatment for the injury and did not take further part in the practice session.

“Rohit is getting treatment and we will update you when we get the details,” a team source told PTI.

The practice session gave indications of who the wicket keeper would be for the upcoming series. Sanju Samson, included in the squad, was not keeping wickets at the nets, and spent the day fielding, while Rishabh Pant, was seen devoting extra time with the gloves in hand. All eyes will also be on big-hitting all-rounder from Mumbai Shivam Dube, who was taking tips from head coach Ravi Shastri throughout the day.
