Aaron Phangiso of South Africa and the Joburg Super Kings has been reported for a suspect bowling action in the ongoing SA20.
Phangiso was reported by match officials during the Super Kings' match against the Pretoria Capitals on Tuesday. The issue will be referred to the independent Bowling Action Panel for adjudication under the tournament's 'Suspected Illegal Bowling Action' policy.
Gerrie Pienaar, a match referee representative, former South African seamer Vernon Philander, and Cricket South Africa's (CSA) High Performance Manager Vincent Barnes make up the panel.
Before reaching a decision, the panel has seven days to review the video footage from the relevant game. Phangiso, on the other hand, can continue to bowl for Super Kings in the meantime.
Phangiso picked up a match-winning 4 for 32 against Capitals in Johannesburg, as Super Kings won a tight game by six runs and secured two points. All four of his wickets came during a period of collapse for the Capitals, who lost 4 for 57 in less than seven overs after an aggressive start to their 169-run chase.
The two teams met again the next day, with the Capitals chasing 123 with six wickets and seven overs remaining. Phangiso batted at No. 10 and had a useful cameo of 19 from 10 balls in the match, but he was wicketless with the ball.
Phangiso, 38, has played 21 ODIs and 16 T20Is for South Africa.
