The first season of South Africa's domestic Twenty20 franchise league, SA20, is set to begin on January 10, 2023.
Six teams are competing in the league: Sunrisers Eastern Cape, MI Cape Town, Durban Super Giants, Paarl Royals, and Johannesburg Super Kings.
Even though the league will be played in South Africa, Indians should take note because all of the franchises are owned by organisations that also have IPL teams.
Seven international players at most may be included in any team of 17.
Tristan Stubbs, a batter, was the most expensive player purchased at the player auction on September 19 by the Sunrisers team for over US$ 520,000.
Faf du Plessis, a former captain of the Chennai Super Kings, will lead the Johannesburg Super Kings, while their assistant coach Albie Morkel expressed confidence in the league's inaugural season.

The existence of a league within our own nation excites cricketers who are now playing at the domestic level to a certain extent. They are aware that if they demonstrate their abilities, anything might happen, including playing for the Proteas or landing international deals."
