MI Cape Town has signed Australian cricketer Tim David to play in the SA20, South Africa's franchise-based domestic T20 tournament, for the remainder of the 2023 season, replacing England allrounder Liam Livingstone in the squad.

"Tim Time has arrived. @timdavid8, welcome to the #MICapeTown family! "MI Cape Town announced this in a tweet on Monday.

Tim, a 26-year-old Mumbai Indians player, has joined the squad as SA20 resumes on February 2 after a week-long break.

Tim David is one of the most versatile T20 players in the world, a power-hitter who has been a consistent performer across T20 leagues, according to MI Cape Town.

David is a late replacement for the injured Livingstone.

"I am overjoyed to be here with MI Cape Town and to be a part of the MI family. I'm looking forward to meeting all of my new teammates, as well as some familiar faces with the coaches and current Mumbai Indians teammates. I can't wait to get started and am looking forward to it "The team quoted Tim David on Monday.

David played 14 T20Is for Singapore, scoring 558 runs at an average of 46.5 before switching alliances to Australia and being named to their squad for the 2022 T20 World Cup. On September 20, 2022, he made his T20I debut for Australia against India.

David has extensive T20 cricket experience, having played in the Big Bash League, Pakistan Super League, T20 Blast, and The Hundred in England. David was selected by Royal Challengers Bangalore in August 2021 and by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022 auction in February 2022.

The SA20 is currently on vacation for one week. MI Cape Town are currently fifth in the six-team league in terms of points, with three wins and four losses.
