Second Test Day 2: Rain frustrates both Bangladesh and Pakistan in Mirpur Image

Only 6.2 overs were possible on Day 2 of the second Test match between Bangladesh and Pakistan, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, due to persistent rain.

Play resumed more than three hours after the scheduled start, with Pakistan on 161/2. Babar Azam smashed the first ball, off Khaled Ahmed for four to start the proceedings. Azhar Ali, too, looked ominous against Ebadot Hossain, striking back-to-back fours to reach his 34th Test fifty.

After thirty minutes of play, however, the rain returned and kept getting heavier with time. The ground staff put the covers on and took them off on numerous occasions during the first session. They did not get the chance this time. The on-field umpires decided to call off the day at 15.00 local time.

At stumps, Pakistan reached 188/2 in the first innings, with Babar unbeaten on 71 and Azhar on 52.

Brief scores: Pakistan 188/2 (Babar Azam 71*; Taijul Islam 2-49) vs Bangladesh.
