South Africa vs Bangladesh, 2nd Test Day 4: Bangladesh stare at massive defeat Image

Bangladesh stare at a massive defeat after slipping to 27/3 in their second innings on Day 3 of the second and final Test match in South Africa. The pitch is deteriorating, and Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer have already turned out to be more than a handful.

Earlier, Harmer and Wiaan Mulder claimed three wickets each to bowl out Bangladesh for 217. Barring Mushfiqur Rahim, who scored 51, no Bangladesh batter managed a substantial score. South Africa then scored 176 in 39.5 overs before declaring the innings. Dean Elgar made 26 in 29 balls and Kyle Verreynne scored a quick 39.

In the second innings, Maharaj struck twice to reduce Bangladesh to 11/2. Tamim Iqbal got out to the last ball of the day. Mominul Haque is currently batting on five, and he is likely to be joined by Mushfiqur at the start of Day 4. They need another 386 runs to win the game orr bat out for two days to force a draw. Neither looks probable at this point, given how Harmer and Maharaj have bowled throughout the game.

Bangladesh need a miraculous performance from their remaining batters to avoid a defeat. Mushfiqur and Mominul need to forge a massive partnership and stretch the game as long as they can.

Fantasy Tips

  • Pick Mushfiqur and Liton Das from Bangladesh.
