Despite the entire second day's play being washed out, the Centurion Test match has progressed at a rapid pace, courtesy to the 18-wicket Day 3. So given how fast things have happened, a result is very much on the cards, provided there are no more weather interruption in this Test match.
At Stumps on Day 3 India had a lead of 146 runs with nine wickets still in the bag. Earlier in the morning, they collapsed quite dramatically, losing 7 for 49 to get bowled out for 327 as Lungi Ngidi bagged a six-for. However, the Indian pace attack then showcased their worth as the entire South African batting line-up could only last 62.3 overs and bowled out for 197.
Mohammed Shami was exceptional, leading the way with a five-for. In fact, the entire pace attack produced some cracking deliveries on a pitch that had quickened up and had quite a bit of juice, helping the visitors to take a crucial lead of 130.
Batting second, at the fag end of the day India lost Mayank Agarwal but still they are in a commanding position. However, Virat Kohli and Co. might have to take notice of the forecast for the final day. The met department has predicted afternoon rain on Day 5. Hence, to enforce a result from this Test match India need to make the Day 4, in which there is clear weather predicted, count.
